It is located 1 kilometers to Jagannath Temple and 2.5 km from Puri Junction, Narendra Tank or Narendra Pokhari is a holy tank situated within Mauza Dandimala Sahi in Puri. It is one of the largest water bodies within Orissa and is among the top tourist destinations in Puri.
The tank was built around the time of the 15th century by Narendra Dev who shared the reigns of the kingdom with Purushottama. The tank is a large space that features an island that is located in the middle. It also has small temples named Chandana Mandapa, which is linked with the bank's south end via bridges. This tank has been deemed to be sacred and contains a number of temples, both small and big around the area. The level of the water inside the tank is around 10-feet lower than road level. It is spread out over 16 ghats. This gives the chance for pilgrims to perform an absolution. The main ghat contains the flight's steps composed of Khondalite.
Also known as Chandana Pushkarini It is the holy water source that is the site of the renowned Chandana Yatra of Lord Jagannath which is held each year. In this period the smaller and bigger gods are taken from their temples and then thrown into the holy waters of the lake. The gods pray with Chandana and are cleansed by the holy water from the tank. The ceremony takes place in the Baisakhi month of the Hindu calendar.
