Sakhigopal Temple

Sakshigopal Temple formally known as Satyabadi Gopinatha Temple is an ancient temple which is dedicated to Lord Gopinatha situated near the village of Sakhigopal located on the Puri Bhubaneshwar highway in Odisha, India. The temple was constructed using traditional Kalinga Architecture style.One of the holy tourist spots in orissa, Sakhigopal is a historical village located 19 kilometers. north of Puri, which is on the route to Bhubaneswar. The most renowned place in Odisha for the industry of coconuts. The main reason for the national significance of the area is the Sakhigopal Temple, which is famously known. It is among the most prestigious temples of the nation. It is said that without Sakhigopal being seen, the pilgrimage toward Puri is not complete. There is a large influx of pilgrims on festive days like AnlaNabami, Dola Purnima,ChandanYatra, Kartika Purnima, etc. Sakhigopal is a reference to Gopal.
The Gajapati King of Orissa Sri Purusottam Dev took this statue to Vidyanagar following the destruction of the city by the King. It is believed that the other name for Sakhigopal is Alasa. However, currently there is a small village named Alaska close to Sakhigopal.
Later, because of the influence from Gita Govinda, people accepted the two sculptures of RADHA KRISHNA. It is also known as 'JUGAL MURTI 'which is why the ruler of Ranpur of Puri district offered a sculpture of Radha.
