Astaranga Sea Beach

Astaranga is an agricultural and fishing village as well as a community development block located in Puri district in the Indian state of Odisha. It was one of the locations of the 'Lavana Satyagraha' ( Salt March) which was a peaceful civil disobedience movement in the colonial period of India which was led by Mahatma Gandhi. It is the largest exporter of betel leaves, mostly to Kolkata as well as other countries. The most popular tourist destination is known as Pir Jahania, lies on the shores of Bay of Bengal. Casuarina plants are planted over an extensive area to provide shade to tourists.The city of Astaranga also has two additional places to picnic, including Ganga Devi muhana and Nuagarh jethi. The government is planning an ocean drive road to the seashore. In Astaranga the area is home to an elementary school that is nodal above 100 years old and a high school that is over 50 years old, whose first director was a 'Sarala puraskar award winner for his poems Kulamani Swain, a Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, Anganbadi for the youngest children, as well as three CBSE schools.The school is located in the city of Astaranga.
Astranga means 'colorful sunset'. It is located near the mouth of Devi River. It is located about 60 km (37 miles) to the east of Puri which is located in the Bay of Bengal coast. It is 19 kilometres (12 miles) far from Konark. Hyderabad's Navayuga Engineering Co. is looking to build a Rs. 6 billion port at Astaranga. The company will implement the port project near the Devi River in three phases on a build- own-operate-share-transfer basis, with an investment of Rs. 1.50 billion during the initial phase. The third and second phases in the scheme will include the sum of Rs. 2 billion and the sum of Rs. 2.50 billion 2 billion and Rs. 2.50 billion. Astaranga is one of the four brand new ports set to be built in the Odisha coast. Nineteen ports were identified along the Odisha coast. Navayug Engineering Company Limited submitted its techno-feasibility study to the State government for the establishment of a port at Astaranga in the Puri district. The company approached East Coast Railway to expand the project by establishing a rail link.
